NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments

We start our engagement with you with an assessment. The Occupational Therapist will take a” deep dive” with you about when and how you complete your everyday living skills and how much assistance you currently receive. It is important to understand your everyday life so we can then address how much, when, where, and how assistance is provided. It can also help you identify areas that you would like to work on or do differently.

We will also likely complete a few standardised assessments during this process.

NDIS ongoing Occupational Therapy

Once an assessment is completed and goals have been identified, the Occupational Therapist can provide a tailored treatment plan for you.  This could include treatment sessions with the OT, caregiver/support worker training, plans to trial and integrate assistive technology and/or written reports.

Assistive Technology recommendations and reports

Assistive Technology (AT) is a device or system that can help people achieve an activity or task that they wouldn’t normally be able to do on their own.  This can include a range of things from an alarm that alerts others when someone falls to a smart home device that allows someone to speak to it to turn on/off the lights because they cannot use light switches.  OT’s play an important role when assessing and recommending AT because they consider many individualised factors that may affect the successful fit and use of a device and may otherwise go overlooked.

NDIS minor home modifications recommendations and reports (such as grab bars and/or ramps)

Lindsay has worked with suppliers and builder to complete many successful minor home modifications and has also taken a home modifications course. However, major home modifications, such as an entire property redesign, is best suited to Occupational Therapists who specialise in this area.

NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) reports

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a NDIS funded support where a participant is provided with supports for daily tasks while you also work on life skills to assist you in living as independently as possible.  An Occupational Therapist can complete an assessment and, if it is clinically deemed the appropriate level of support, a report can be written to support a participant in obtaining SIL.

NDIS Sensory Profile Assessments and sensory recommendations

Lindsay is experienced in administering the Sensory Profile and analysing the results. This assessment can help you understand how your senses interact with your environment. Everyone’s sensations are different and implementing individualised recommendations can help you regulate how you feel in certain environments.
